High School Student Scholarship

Eligibility

Applicants to the Jaycox Gig Harbor Police Benevolent Fund Scholarship program must be:

High School Seniors who are currently attending Gig Harbor High School, Peninsula High School, or Henderson Bay Alternative High School.

OR

Previous recipients of the Jaycox Gig Harbor Police Benevolent Fund Scholarship.

AND

Planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course or study at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school in the fall of the upcoming year.

Interested students may obtain a scholarship application on-line at www.harborpd.com or by requesting an application via written request to:

Applications must be RECEIVED at the above address no later than 5:00 p.m. on March 1 of each academic year. In addition to the application form, applications must also include:

A letter of interest and qualification from the applicant

Current complete official transcripts of grades

AND

At least two letters of recommendation from non-family members.

Selection

The scholarship program is administered by a committee of representatives appointed by the Board of Directors of the organizing body. This committee may select scholarship winners on the basis of academic achievement, community involvement, awards, work history, and/or life experience.

The amount of each scholarship award may vary. There is no set number of awards or amount of each award established. Scholarships will be awarded in accordance with the financial means of the endowment fund and the financial need of the recipient.

All application information will be maintained in strict confidence. Not all applicants will receive awards. Scholarship award winners will be notified in May of each academic year. Award checks will be mailed to the home address of the recipient and will be made payable to the academic institution on behalf of the student.

Obligations

Scholarship award winners must consent to the public release of their name(s) to the local media. Award winners are also required to notify this organization upon change of enrollment status at the intended academic institution or other relevant information.
